CB Commit Ace Alston Gets Glimpse Of Notre Dame Future At Lambeau
Ace Alston won't arrive at Notre Dame until next year, but for a few moments Sunday night, it was easy for him to picture himself already there.
Alston was in attendance and watching the Irish run onto Lambeau Field gave the 2027 Notre Dame cornerback commit butterflies as he thought about what it'll feel like when it's finally his turn.
“I definitely imagine myself down there just seeing them boys run out,” Alston told Irish Sports Daily. “I definitely had a little thought of just me just going down there and walking out and running out with the team and stuff like that.
“I just can't wait for that. I had butterflies just seeing the boys run out, knowing that's going to be me next year.”
The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder made the trip to Green Bay for Notre Dame's 41-13 victory over Wisconsin.
“It was their first game, so I wanted to just go out and support, knowing I'm committed and I'm going to be on campus here in a minute,” Alston said.
“I just wanted to go and support and see how the team looks, especially the defense, see how they look for the first game and see all the work they put in in the spring pay off.”
As he said, Alston paid particularly close attention to the Irish defense.
“I think they look good,” he said. “I feel like there's a couple mistakes that can easily be fixed. I feel like for the most part though, they look good and they picked it up in the second half.”
Overall, the Anderson High School standout enjoyed his experience.
“It was great, man,” he said. “Just being at Lambeau Field for the first time and seeing Notre Dame play Wisconsin with the Shamrock jerseys, it was a great experience.”
For the Cincinnati native, the crowd that followed Notre Dame to Green Bay was another reminder of the reach of the program he committed to last year.
“It really just tells me the prestigiousness of Notre Dame and just the connections that we have,” Alston said. “That's one of the reasons why I chose Notre Dame because of how high of a school it is when it comes to football and when it comes to academics outside of football as well.”
Sunday won't be Alston's last opportunity to see Notre Dame in person this season.
He plans to be in South Bend for the Sept. 19 game against Michigan State and again when the Irish host Miami on Nov. 7. He expects to make at least one additional trip later in the season as well.
