Notre Dame might have had Irish Invasion last week, but the program will also host crucial camps throughout the month.

On Tuesday, Notre Dame offered several 2028 prospects following its first evaluation camp of the summer, which included 2028 defensive lineman Simon Nuamah‍.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pounder has seen his recruitment blow up this spring and earning an offer from Notre Dame meant a great deal to the Bronx native.

“It was an amazing moment,” Nuamah told ISD. “Being there with my dad and brother, it meant a lot to me and my family. Although my whole family was not present, I remember sharing the news and how great that felt. It is truly a blessing and an honor.”

Nuamah now holds more than 20 scholarship offers, but the four-star defender doesn’t believe he’s arrived.

“I felt proud of what I did at camp, but I will never get comfortable,” stated Nuamah. “It’s a great feeling, but more work has to be done.”

Beyond the offer, the visit provided Nuamah with a deeper understanding of Marcus Freeman's vision for the program and the culture that has helped Notre Dame become one of the nation's top programs.

“I can definitely see myself having success at Notre Dame,” explained Nuahmah. “The coaching style, culture and the Golden Standard are all things that stuck with me. Coach Freeman emphasized taking pride in doing things that are hard and take time. I enjoyed learning from people who know so much.”

Freeman’s message was drilled to Nuamah in his one-on-one meeting, but also throughout the camp. Nuamah was also impressed with Freeman’s emphasis on life off the field.

“Coach Freeman is a great leader, coach and mentor,” Nuamah said. “After the camp, he talked to all of the athletes and emphasized the Golden Standard and the importance of doing hard things.

“In the meeting room, he talked to me about what Notre Dame offers beyond football, the opportunity, connection and the lessons I will learn during my journey. I enjoyed talking with him a lot.”

The visit also gave Nuamah his first extended look at campus, which quickly left an impression.

“The campus is extremely peaceful,” Nuamah explained. “It allows you to focus on the 3 Fs that were shared with me. Faith, Family and Football. It allows you to be locked into whatever you’re doing while also taking time to appreciate the beauty around us.”

As for a future trip, Nuamah will be back to Notre Dame as his first look at the program set a high bar.

“I will be making a return to Notre Dame,” said Nuamah. “I would love to come out for a game or just another visit in general.

“It is early, but I definitely do like Notre Dame a lot. I had a great experience there and I can’t wait for future ones.”
