Elite 2027 DE Abraham Sesay Goes In-Depth On Notre Dame Commitment
The recruiting process ended where Abraham Sesay always seemed most comfortable.
After months of considering programs like LSU, Florida State, Duke and Penn State, the 2027 Pennsylvania edge rusher committed to Notre Dame during his official visit this past weekend before announcing it publicly on Tuesday afternoon.
For Sesay, the decision ultimately came down to finding a place where his values aligned with the people inside the program. After spending multiple days in South Bend surrounded by Notre Dame's coaches, players and culture, he felt certain he had found it.
"I just thought it was a perfect mix of education and football," Sesay told Irish Sports Daily immediately after the announcement. "Just talking with the players, talking with the guys, I just felt like I would be able to fit in.
"It's an amazing place and I'm very excited to be a part of it."
What stood out most wasn't necessarily any one presentation, meeting or pitch. It was the opportunity to spend extended time around the people he'd potentially be joining.
"Really just being able to spend time with staff for a couple days," Sesay said. "I felt like my morals and values for the game really matched with the whole entire program, which is why I felt like I was able to be a part of it. That's why I was very, very eager to be able to be a part of it as well."
He informed Notre Dame's coaches of his commitment while still on campus.
"I told them Saturday during the photoshoot, letting them know that I want to be part of the program, knowing that I'm going to put my foot forward and to be able to be an Irishman,” he said.
"They were very excited. It was a very emotional moment for me and my family, but the whole entire staff just really embraced us. It was a very emotional moment, but I was excited and I'm just excited for this journey."
Now that his recruitment is complete, Sesay plans to help Notre Dame continue building what is already shaping up to be one of the nation's top recruiting classes.
"Of course," Sesay said when asked if he plans to recruit for the Irish. "Whoever wants to be a part of our family, everybody will welcome them with open arms."
He isn't targeting any specific prospects just yet.
"I really don't have anybody in particular," Sesay said. "But there's some great players on the board, so I'm excited to get to know them and if you want to be a part of it, come be a part of it."
The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder said he's grateful to finally have the process behind him after one of the most heavily recruited stretches of his life.
"I'm beyond blessed," Sesay said. "It's been an amazing journey and I'm so grateful for everybody who has done everything for me. So it's been an amazing journey and just got to be able to put my foot forward and work as hard as possible."
