College athletics is making another change.

On Tuesday, the NCAA Division I Council approved an age-based eligibility model and it could become official as early as Wednesday.

The model is straightforward. College athletes would have five years to play five seasons. An athlete’s eligibility clock would begin upon full-time enrollment in college or at the start of the academic year following their 19th birthday — whichever comes first.
