2028 OH S Geordan McKnight "Very Grateful" For Notre Dame Offer
Geordan McKnight made the most of his first trip to Notre Dame.
The 2028 Ohio safety impressed the Irish staff during camp last month, earning a scholarship offer before leaving South Bend.
"I'm very grateful and thankful for the opportunity to go to school at Notre Dame," McKnight told Irish Sports Daily.
The offer came after a strong performance in front of head coach Marcus Freeman and the Irish coaching staff.
"They liked my tape and they talked about how I looked pretty good at camp," McKnight said.
Notre Dame delivered the news immediately afterward.
"They pulled me aside after," McKnight said. "I was in Coach Freeman's office."
The Pickerington North High School standout also came away with a positive first impression of Freeman.
"He's an Ohio dude, just like me," McKnight said. "I can tell that he's real organized."
McKnight believes he showed the Irish exactly what they wanted to see during the workout.
"I think I showed them my technique and they just kept talking about how smooth I was moving," McKnight said. "I feel like I showed them I could play in man coverage when we did one-on-ones."
The trip also marked his first visit to South Bend.
"I thought it was nice," McKnight said of the campus.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder already knows he'll be back.
"For sure," McKnight said. "I'll be up there for a game this year."
When he returns, he'll be paying close attention to how Notre Dame operates on game day.
"I just want to see all the routines and staff functions for a Saturday game," he said.
Notre Dame is one of the latest additions to an offer list that also includes Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Florida, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Indiana and Pitt among others.
When it comes time to make a decision, one factor will stand above the rest.
"Just the school that continuously makes me feel welcome the most. A team that I can see everybody's actually together."
