Five Players To Watch
Notre Dame WR Jordan Faison
Faison would be a player to watch in any game, but with the weather being a potential issue, the short passing game could be a huge part of the game plan for Notre Dame. He's averaging 8.1 yards after the catch per reception and should rack up a bunch of YAC against Michigan State.
Michigan State RB Cam Edwards
The UConn transfer has been the best player on offense for the Spartans and already has 51 touches in two games. After rushing for 1,240 yards last season, he's on his way to putting up similar numbers in 2026. He's capable of making explosive plays and the Spartans don't have anyone else quite like him on the roster. Notre Dame has played outstanding run defense and they'll have to keep that up to contain Edwards.
Notre Dame LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa
In only 17 plays, Viliamu-Asa made his presence felt against Rice. Even if he's still on a pitch count in this game, everyone should expect that he'll find a way to make the most of those reps. Michigan State wants to control the game by running the football and each inside run is an opportunity for him to shine.
Michigan State DT Eli Coenen
Coenen has looked like a breakout star to start the season for the Spartans. He already has seven pressures and four havoc plays in two games. He's a plus pass rusher at 6-7, 290 and it should be a good test for Notre Dame's guards.
Notre Dame DE Bryce Young
Young has looked explosive in the first couple of games for the Irish and appears to be emerging into the game-wrecker everyone thought he'd be. He'll be lined up opposite Michigan State's massive left tackle Ben Murawski. He's a people mover in the running game, but could have some issues with the lateral twitch he'll see from Young.

“There were a couple days in fall camp that we were able to get outside for some practice in the rain. I don't know if we didn't have rain – maybe it's something you get a fire hose or something, I don't know. It is what it is. You got to deal with the elements.
“Does it dictate your game plan? It might, depending on how wet it truly is. You're going to have to be able to run the ball and stop the run if the weather is truly a factor. And that's something that we want to do whether it's raining or not. We'll deal with it if it's a factor and we'll adjust if we need to.”
