2027 CB Daveon Belhomme Moving Quickly With Notre Dame After Offer
Notre Dame identified another defensive back it wanted in the 2027 class and moved quickly with Daveon Belhomme.
Now, the 2027 Florida cornerback is looking to move just as quickly when it comes to getting to South Bend.
“It meant a lot to me knowing that I'm a DB and it's like a DB university over there,” Belhomme said of the offer from the Irish over the weekend.
“They’ve got one of the best corners in college football right now.”
Belhomme was referring to Irish standout Leonard Moore, one of the reasons the 6-foot-2, 184-pounder has such a favorable impression of Notre Dame's ability to develop defensive backs.
The Clearwater Central Catholic standout also has offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and others.
Notre Dame assistant Shaun Shivers and defensive backs coach Aaron Henry delivered the offer Saturday morning, before the Irish took the field later that day against North Carolina.
“It meant a lot,” Belhomme said of the timing. “That shows that they really want me and it's like they believe in an underdog story.”
The offer came after the Irish had already been in contact with Belhomme, and that communication has continued since. Notre Dame's message now is straightforward.
“They want me to take an official visit as fast as I can,” he said.
Belhomme said that could happen as soon as this weekend for the Irish’s game against Stanford. If not, he's looking at Notre Dame's game against Miami as another possibility.
Either way, he made it clear, he intends to take that official.
Belhomme has already taken an official visit to Wake Forest and identified North Carolina as another school he's considering at this point.
But the Irish have quickly put themselves in a strong position with their newest 2027 target, and Belhomme is eager to see Notre Dame for himself. He'll be looking to experience the energy surrounding the program and see the Irish in a gameday environment.
“I would want to see them excited, hyped up,” he said.
When it comes time to make his college decision, Belhomme already knows what he's looking for.
“Main thing, a good education and somewhere that can send me to the league,” he said.
And as for timing, it doesn’t sound like Belhomme plans on letting the process play out any longer than it needs to.
