On signing day back in 2009, no one was predicting Manti Te'o to Notre Dame. I'm not even sure Te'o was predicting that it would happen up until right before his announcement.
It just seemed like he was a lock to USC. The guy that could be a game-changer at linebacker would spurn the Irish and choose their rival because everything pointed in the direction of him doing so.
They not only had all of that recent success to sell Te'o, but year after year they had stud linebackers.
