2018 McDonogh 35 (La.) receiver Lawrence Keys III has taken the offseason to work on his entire game. The four-star prospect is now transitioning to summer workouts with his team.

“My summer is going great,” the 6-foot, 170-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “I have been doing a lot of stuff. I have been doing a lot of 7-on-7. We have done pretty well in 7-on-7, and we’re working on our team chemistry.”

Keys has had a pretty low-key recruitment to date, but schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado State, Houston, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas Tech are at the top of his list.

“I am going to narrow it down to a Top 5 or 6,” explained Keys. “As far as committing, I am going to commit in February on Signing Day.”

Notre Dame is a school that has remained in the mix and receivers coach Del Alexander has been pushing hard for a visit from the explosive receiver.

“Everything is going well with Notre Dame,” stated Keys. “Coach Alexander hits me up and checks on me to see how I am doing. He asks about how my summer is going. We are trying to plan a visit.”

“We are trying to work out one this summer, but if not then, it could be in the fall for an official visit. The travel is hard to work out.”

The Irish got on the Louisiana native’s radar a few years ago when he was watching Will Fuller dominate defenses and has a lot of similarities to Keys.

“I have watched Will Fuller a lot,” Keys stated. “I watched him in the spread offense, and that’s a system that fits me. I like the offense Notre Dame runs a lot.”

Keys also has an idea of a few of schools he wants to get to this fall.

“I have couple schools I want to go to for my officials,” said Keys. “Houston, TCU, and Texas Tech are schools I want to see. I want to get up to Notre Dame if possible too.”

The recruiting process has been heated for Keys, but he is taking his time to make sure he finds the right fit.

“Every school is coming hard right now,” said Keys. “I am talking to some head coaches, a couple of assistant coaches and some recruiters.

“All the coaches are stressing academics first. After that, I ask them about the type of offense and where I would fit if I committed to that school.”
