2019 TN ATH Enjoys Notre Dame Atmosphere
2019 Springfield (Tenn.) athlete Dayron Johnson visited Notre Dame in June and returned on Saturday to get a feel for the game day environment in South Bend.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder took it all in on Saturday and left campus with rave reviews.
“It was nice,” stated Johnson. “I loved the atmosphere. I’d loved everything about it. The fanbase is really good. They really love the players.
“It’s a very nice campus. The tour guides were very nice. They told me about the school and education they provide.”
Notre Dame didn’t win, but the Springfield star appreciated seeing a good football game.
“It was a good game by both teams,” Johnson said. “The game was great because they were competing so hard.”
Johnson is being recruited as an athlete by a few programs, so he was paying close attention to the Notre Dame offense and defense.
“I could see myself fitting on both sides of the ball,” explained Johnson. “I liked how the offense spread the ball around and tried to get everyone touches. On defense, I liked how they played man-to-man.”
The Tennessee native also got to speak with receivers coach Del Alexander.
“I spoke with Coach Alexander and the assistant receiver coach,” stated Johnson. “They hoped I enjoyed the game and that I could get back to Notre Dame. They said I needed to get some more tape so they could see it.”
Johnson would return to South Bend if he got the chance and it’s because of the people.
“I liked how everyone at Notre Dame treats you like family,” said Johnson. “It felt like home. I would definitely come back to Notre Dame if they invite me. I have a visit to Louisville next week, and on September 30th, I will be going to Cincinnati.”
