2019 WV LB Talks Notre Dame Experience
Dewayne Grantham, a 3-star linebacker from Martinsburg, W.V., was in attendance for Notre Dame’s 52-17 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday night.
He was pleased with how the his first-ever visit in South Bend.
“I thought Notre Dame was great,” he said. “I really liked the campus and I thought the facilities were very nice.”
Before the start of the game, the 2019 linebacker was able to explore the football facilities and shake hands with coaches and meet some current Irish players.
“I met the players and coaches before the game,” expressed Grantham. “I also got to look at the locker room and try on jerseys.”
The West Virginia native wasn’t able to have many conversations with coaches or players during his visit before the game, but was happy he was able to greet Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and some Irish players after the win.
“I got to shake Coach Kelly’s hand after the game and got to talk to him briefly,” explained Grantham.
During the game, the 6-foot, 185-pounder took in the Irish tradition, and loved the way Notre Dame played.
“They played very good,” said Grantham. “The atmosphere was great, they do some cool things and it is very different than what I saw at West Virginia.”
The 2019 linebacker has accrued some interest from a couple other FBS schools, and has received an offer from in-state university West Virginia. Grantham acknowledged he doesn’t know what the schools specifically like about him, he is just going to keep working hard.
“I am not sure if any other schools are close to offering me, but I do know Wake Forest, Notre Dame and Cincinnati are all looking at me,” said Grantham. “Schools just contact my coach about me and my coach offers them my film.”
Despite the distance, the junior linebacker would like to get back to South Bend for another home game in the future.
“Notre Dame is a long drive from home, but I definitely want to try and get back there for another game in the future,” explained Grantham.
In the meantime, he is excited for the other visits he has coming up in the near future.
“I might be going to Cincinnati next weekend and then I am going to West Virginia again when they play Texas Tech.”
