2020 New Jersey quarterback Michael Alaimo‍ will be South Bend this Saturday to watch the Irish take on the Wolfpack.

As a sophomore, the St. Joseph Regional High School standout hasn’t had any direct contact with anyone at Notre Dame yet, but when his high school coach received an email inviting him to a game, he decided to jump at the opportunity to visit one of his dream schools.

“One of the coaches at Notre Dame contacted Coach (Augie) Hoffman and invited me out to a game,” explained the New Jersey native. “They’re a very good program and it is one of my dream schools to go to.”

Growing up in a family of Notre Dame fans, Alaimo has knowledge about the school and program, but would like to learn and see more firsthand when he visits on Saturday.

“I want to see the stadium, talk to the coaches and see all the facilities,” explained Alaimo.

Visiting Notre Dame will not be his first visit to a big FBS school since he was very busy over the summer traveling too many and after this visit to South Bend, he plans to visit another big-name school.

“I went to a Georgia camp over the summer; I also visited Pittsburgh over the summer, Miami, NC State and Duke,” he explained.  “I am also going out to a game at Penn State soon.”

The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder is playing wide receiver this season for his high school team and is waiting for his shot to play the position he is being recruited for. Along with his above-average measurables for a young quarterback, college coaches love Alaimo’s skillset.

“I am playing a lot of receiver right now, but next year I will be at quarterback, it is going pretty well, I am just happy to be out there playing,” expressed Alaimo. “Coaches say they like my arm strength, my accuracy and my vision.”

The young signal-caller already has a pair of offers from FBS schools and has accumulated interest from of course Notre Dame, along with another FBS powerhouse.

“I have two offers from Rutgers and Pittsburgh,” said Alamio. “Penn State is really showing a lot of interest right now.”

The sophomore standout has a while before he needs to make his decision and he hasn’t thought much about the factors that would go into that choice, but the youngster did express one initial thing he has in mind early in the recruiting process.

“I really want to play football with my brother in college, he is at Pittsburgh right now, but I haven’t thought about it much,” expressed Alaimo. “It is very early.”
