If you a real one, then you know how to bounce back.

Notre Dame quarterback Brandon Wimbush is ready to bounce back from Saturday’s game against Miami. The 6-foot-2, 228-pounder had a rough night completing 10-of-21 passes for 119 yards, touchdowns, and two interceptions, but don’t expect Wimbush to have a lack of confidence on Saturday.

“You just leave it in the past,” Wimbush said of last weekend. “I think I’m doing a good job of that. You can’t go back and visit the past. You have to understand the type of player you are and the type of offense you’ve been running.

“We’re one of the top offenses in the country, so we’re not taking a step back, but we’re moving forward.”

The atmosphere in Hard Rock Stadium was one of the best in college football last Saturday, but the ruckus environment wasn’t a factor according to the junior quarterback.

“I don’t think so at all,” Wimbush responded when asked if the atmosphere was overwhelming. “It was a great atmosphere to play in. I thought the guys were excited. Our confidence and mindset going into a game is to execute the offense like we know we can without any external factors.

“Sometimes you don’t have a good game. This past Saturday was one of those days. In all aspects, I think it was a good learning game. How many times are you going to play in an atmosphere like that?”

Wimbush’s team has taken on his mindset as the Irish moved on from the second loss of the season.

“We just have the mindset of going into every week as confident as ever,” stated Wimbush. “There is never a doubt in our mind that we're not prepared for a team. This team has been confident through a steady plane the entire season.

“Come Monday after the Georgia or Miami game, we’re back to work, and the confidence is where it needed to be.”

This weekend brings a new challenge to the Notre Dame offense as Navy will make sure every possession matters. The Irish got just six offensive possessions a year ago, and Wimbush knows scoring touchdowns is vital to the getting Notre Dame’s ninth win of the year.

“Navy is really good at holding the clock,” explained Wimbush. “It’s paramount we take advantage of every opportunity we get and put points on the board. It’s back to the fundamentals, and we can’t have a three-and-out or miss a hitch so we can continue a drive.”

Saturday’s game against the Midshipmen doesn't lack for motivation as it’s Senior Day and Wimbush still is focused on making sure the Irish do what they can to achieve the ultimate goal.

“We want to win a National Championship,” stated Wimbush. “You don’t know what’s going to happen. I didn’t really pay attention to what came out, but I heard we have a shot. That’s the goal, so we have to win Saturday and move forward from there.

“We’re taking it day by day and week by week. Whatever happens, happens. This team is motivated and know we still have a chance.”

Wimbush also wants to make sure the senior class goes out on the right note as they have done a great deal in the last year for the future of the program.

“We owe it to those guys,” said Wimbush. “They have been a huge part of the turnaround of this program and leading this team in the direction it's going. They have laid a great foundation. Those seniors aren’t done yet, but we want to send them out on the right note on Saturday.”
