After offers from Purdue and Wisconsin in the last week, Joe Tippmann‍ has clearly seen a boost to his recruiting profile.

On Saturday, the 2019 Indiana offensive lineman made the trip up to Notre Dame to see the Irish’s home finale win against Navy.

“It was pretty cool,” the Fort Wayne native said. “I got to see everything.

“At first, we went through the Gug and everything. Then, we took some pictures with the uniform on and all of that kind of stuff. Then we went to the stadium.”

The Bishop Dwenger High School standout spent time on the field, in the stands and in the new stadium recruiting lounge during the game.

“I thought it was awesome,” the 6-foot-6, 283-pounder said. “It’s truly an awesome place, especially for a game. To have such a turnout with such crappy weather was awesome.”

After the game, Tippmann had the chance to speak with a couple members of the Irish coaching staff.

“I talked to Coach (Mike) Elston, who is the recruiter for Fort Wayne,” he said. “I talked to Coach (Harry) Hiestand a little bit after the game.

“Coach Elston said after the season, he’s going to start coming up to see me at school. Coach Hiestand said he’s going to keep watching my film and everything.”

Obviously, things are picking up for Tippmann, who also has offers from Ball State, Cincinnati and Western Michigan, but Notre Dame certainly grabbed his attention.

“I’m definitely looking forward to staying in touch,” he said. “If I can get the chance, I’d love to go back up there again.

“I think it’s an awesome place.”
