Langham To Look Closely At Notre Dame

A year ago, Malik Langham’s head coach sent a mass email of the 2018 Alabama defensive end’s film to college programs. Apparently, Notre Dame Director of Football Recruiting Aaryn Kearney never forgot that message.

According to Langham, at some point recently Kearney mentioned that email to Irish defensive line coach Mike Elston, which resulted in Elston conducting an in-home visit with the talented defender on Monday night.

“It was pretty good,” the 6-foot-5, 270-pounder from Huntsville, Ala., said. “He came all of the way down to Alabama. He doesn’t come here often, but he really wants me, so it was good. He came to see me first, which meant a lot.

“That means he really wants me and I can tell because I was the first one he came to see and made only his second trip to Alabama in eight years. That really opened my eyes.”

And Elston delivered a scholarship offer from the Irish as well.

“It felt great knowing Notre Dame has a big-time football and academic reputation,” the Lee High School standout said.

The next step in the process is Langham setting up an official visit to South Bend, which is likely to happen in January.

“I just want to see the campus,” he said. “I’ve never been to Notre Dame before, so I’d like to check everything out and see if I like it.”

Langham hasn’t taken any officials yet, but does have a couple scheduled.

“I have Vanderbilt the 8th-10th of this month and then Ole Miss Feb. 2nd-4th,” he said.

He’s also considering officials to Kentucky and Alabama.

Langham is looking for a college where he’ll be comfortable.

“Just feeling at home at a school where I could spend the next four years; no matter if it’s football, just feeling at home with the campus and everything.”
