Jurkovec and McNamara named Gatorade Player of the Year
Notre Dame's future at QB looks bright as 2018 commit Phil Jurkovec and 2019 commit Cade McNamara were both named Gatorade Player of the Year in their home state on Monday.
Jurkovec capped off a perfect season by winning a State Title on Saturday night 41-21 over Pennsylvania powerhouse St. Joseph Prep.
On the year, the 6-foot-5, 220-pounder completed 246-of-337 passes for 3,969 yards, 39 touchdowns and just six interceptions. Jurkovec also added 1,227 yards rushing to go along with 24 touchdowns.
Jurkovec finishes one of the top prep careers in Pennsylvania history with 8,202 passing yards and 71 touchdowns in the air and 2,958 yards rushing to go with 43 more touchdowns on the ground. All in just 34 games of varsity action.
McNamara has already played in 37 varsity games and he has filled up the stat sheet as well. In 2017, the four-star prospect completed 225-of-384 passes for 3,470 yards, 44 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also added 109 yards on the ground and four more scores.
For his career, the Damonte Ranch (Nev.) star has thrown for 9,089 yards, 107 touchdowns and 29 interceptions.
