Recruitment Rundown: Mabry made the trip to South Bend for the Irish’s Junior Day in February. He picked up his Notre Dame offer while he was in town and was blown by the trip. He was really fired up and high on the Irish, but he didn’t want to make an emotional decision, so he waited. He waited a whole three days before deciding Notre Dame was the place for him and announced his decision on Valentine’s Day. Mabry had offers from Cincinnati, Indiana and Memphis at the time he committed and surely would have added many more had he not remained so solid with the Irish throughout.

Brentwood head coach Ron Crawford: “We’re excited for him and think he’d be a fine player wherever, but particularly there. He’s got all of the measureables, 6-6, 270 pounds. He’s a lean 270. He’s going to be a big guy as he matures and grows. Obviously, he’s been a dominant player for us. He’s got really good feet. All of the big boys are looking for that. He moves well.”

ISD expert Jamie Uyeyama: Mabry isn’t going to come in with the same fanfare that recent offensive line recruits have come into Notre Dame with. He’s bringing the same dominating mentality that many of those others did, though. That’s a big reason why Irish fans should not sleep on Mabry.

One trait that can’t be taught to an offensive lineman is toughness. Mabry has that in spades and it’s clear with the way he run blocks. He gets after it and there is a drive inside of him to finish his man. When you are legally blocking someone to the point where they want to fight you after the play, then you know you are doing a heck of a job.
