Notre Dame Football Recruiting

Three Names To Watch: Ohio

As the 2018 recruiting cycle ends, the 2019 cycle is about to heat up. Notre Dame has already offered 98 prospects in the 2019 class, and the list grows almost hourly.

Ohio is absolutely loaded in 2019 and Notre Dame has already made a big move in the state. The Irish have offered seven players from the Buckeye State and it'd surprise me if it didn't get to double-digits by the end of the Spring Evaluation Period.

I'd love to see Notre Dame get more involved with three more Ohio standouts over the next couple months.

Zach Carpenter‍ – Offensive Line – Moeller
Cincinnati has been kind to Notre Dame over the years with Tommy Kraemer being the latest to make the move from The Nati to South Bend.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder was first-team All-State this fall, and it’s pretty easy to see why. Carpenter moves people from his right guard spot, and he does it by destroying the guy in front of him.

He will need to get in the weight room to add more muscle, but there is a lot to work with there. Carpenter does come more in the mold of what Alabama and Michigan look for at the guard position, but if Notre Dame continues to move in a power run game, the three-star prospect is someone they should give a long look at.

Carpenter holds offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, Northwestern, Pitt, Rutgers, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Virginia.

Ryan Jacoby‍ – Offensive Line – Mentor
The three-star prospect is one of Ohio’s most talented prospects and has been racking up the offers over the last few months.

Akron, Boston College, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oregon, Toledo, Virginia and West Virginia have already extended offers to the 6-foot-5, 265-pounder.

Mentor is one of the state’s top programs, and Jacoby has taken off as a starter at left tackle for the Cardinals, but football wasn’t always on the radar for him. Growing up, Jacoby was a star hockey player but switched over to football in middle school.

On film, Jacoby has plenty of room to grow in his game, but he has that nasty attitude you look for in an offensive lineman. He can play tackle or switch to guard, but his athleticism makes me think tackle might be his future position at the next level. He finishes blocks with anger.

Luke Fulton‍ – Linebacker – Cardinal Mooney
The Cardinal Mooney program should be familiar with Notre Dame fans as the McCarthy brothers (Dan and Kyle) are products of the Ohio powerhouse.

Fulton (pictured) is an old-school linebacker with athleticism and speed to play in space. In Notre Dame's scheme, the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder can play Buck or Mike and would bring some athleticism to the position.

While they are highlights, you can see one thing. The kid loves to play football. Notre Dame needs guys that love football and Fulton loves football.

The three-star prospect holds offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Indiana, Kent State, Kentucky and Toledo.
