2019 Texas WR Kam Brown Previews ND Jr. Day

Two weeks after receiving an offer from Notre Dame, 2019 Texas wide receiver Kameron Brown‍ will be in South Bend to check out what the school and football program have to offer.

“I’m headed up there Saturday,” the 6-foot, 170-pounder said, referring to the Irish’s Junior Day event this weekend.

“I’ve been watching them play and I’ve been looking more into the school. It’s a really good school even outside of football and a really nice place to be.”

The Colleyville Heritage High School star is looking forward to seeing Notre Dame for himself.

“I want to look at the campus, the coaches, the facilities and really get a strong sense of how the coaches feel about me,” he said.

Brown was in touch with the Irish staff again a couple days ago.

“They said they liked me and invited me up for a reason because they think I’m a good player and I can help their team out,” he said.

He made an early pledge to UCLA, but backed off that verbal commitment on Tuesday night.

“I just needed some more time to rethink it,” said Brown. “I committed really early. It’s going to help me with my options better. I can focus and look at a better variety of schools and research my decision.”

Brown said the Bruins will still be in the mix as he looks at other schools.

One reason he initially committed to UCLA was the school’s medical program.

“It’s important, but my second option would be majoring in Business because a lot of people go the medical route and find out it’s not for them,” he acknowledged. “I just want to have options just in case.”

Brown isn’t totally sure if he’ll take advantage of the new rule which will allow prospects to take official visits in the spring of their junior years.

“I’ll probably be taking one or two in the spring, but I’ll have to talk to my family about that and see how my schedule is planned out,” he said.

The only other visit he has planned at this point is a Feb. 3rd trip to Texas A&M.
