2020 OL Dylan Barrett Recaps Notre Dame Visit
Dylan Barrett took advantage of spring break to hit some college campuses and the 2020 Illinois offensive lineman was able to get to Notre Dame on Thursday.
“The visit was amazing!” the 6-foot-5, 290-pounder said afterward. “I got to see the campus, watch practice and meet the staff.
“I loved the campus. The buildings, tradition and the overall feeling is incredible.”
He had the opportunity to see all of the sights in South Bend and was impressed.
“I got to see there was Touchdown Jesus, The Golden Dome, the big, famous church there, and I got to go in the box on the field and experience that,” he said.
“The academics, campus, tradition, coaches, and how the players interact with each other I liked a lot.”
Barrett also got a chance to check out the Irish’s practice this morning.
“I liked the practice,” the St. Charles East High School standout said. “The energy and feeing you felt in there was really cool. How they get things done are very efficient and they maximize their time.
“I got to learn all about how they compete and that the bar is set the highest there for the o-line and it’s my goal to meet that.”
Barrett was able to speak with Irish offensive line coach Jeff Quinn, assistant Tom Rees and Director of Football Recruiting Aaryn Kearney.
“They liked me and they want me to come to camp this June and just show up to compete and then Coach Quinn can work with me,” said Barrett, who is already signed up for the camp.
Barrett has early offers from Illinois and Northern Illinois. He has plans to get to Northwestern and Iowa next month.
College coaches have told the sophomore they like his frame and ability to run-block. For his part, Barrett is looking for a well-rounded college program.
“A school that can help me grow academically, spiritually, as a man, as an athlete, and I can leave from that school with or without playing football and I will have a great background.”
