Notre Dame head coach Muffet McGraw got good news in June when top-ranked 2019 point guard Anaya Peoples committed to the Irish, but on Sunday, a significant commitment came as 2019 William Monroe (Va.) forward Samantha Brunelle.

"This decision is not about basketball, it's about the next 40 years," stated Brunelle.

The 6-foot-2, five-star prospect is the number one player in the class and chose the Irish over UConn, Duke, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Wake Forest and Virginia.

Brunelle scored over 40 points three times, including a 49-point performance in January.

She also became the first Gatorade and VHSL State Player of the year in program history. Brunelle has also eclipsed the 2,000 point mark in her career.

Brunell has also been a member of the USA National team the last two summers.
