After having to cancel a trip to South Bend last fall, CaSaan Dixon‍ had the chance to make it to Notre Dame for this past weekend’s Blue-Gold Game and the 2019 Virginia athlete was impressed.

“It was an awesome experience,” Dixon said. ‘Just seeing all of the stuff you’ve seen in the movie.”

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder could play defensive back or receiver at the next level.

“I got to see the locker room, Touchdown Jesus, the dorms and the church,” he said. “I saw everything. It was just awesome.”

The Portsmouth native also enjoyed checking out the spring game.

“The game was good,” he said. “It was a good, competitive atmosphere.”

Dixon had an opportunity to speak with Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea, who recruits his area.

“He said they’re interested in me and they’re doing evaluations in like two weeks and he’s going to come down to the school,” Dixon said.

The I.C. Norcom standout who has an offer from North Carolina State among others said the fact he’s going to be evaluated by the Irish “means a lot.”

“It means they see something in me to try to get me there,” he said.

Obviously, an offer at some point from the Irish would mean even more.

“Their tradition and everything that’s going on up there, it means a lot if they consider offering me,” he added.

Dixon has a couple more trips on his upcoming schedule.

“I have Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia coming up,” he said.

He’d welcome the opportunity to return to South Bend in the future.

“I’d just like to see how the gameday experience is.”
