Notre Dame Football Recruiting

Quinn Carroll Countdown

In less than six hours Notre Dame’s recruiting could go from a “He’s heating up” category to “On fire” as 2019 Edina (Minn.) offensive lineman Quinn Carroll‍ will announce his decision at 10:00 p.m. CT.

Carroll will choose between Minnesota, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pounder hasn’t given many hints on where he’s leaning, but Notre Dame was the last program he visited as Carroll was in South Bend on April 21st for an official visit.

PJ Fleck and Minnesota made Carroll a major priority early, but his father also played for the Gophers. Carroll’s brother played at Virginia Tech, and the Hokies hosted him before his official visit to Notre Dame.

Penn State could be a dark horse in his race as offensive line coach Matt Limegrover probably has the longest standing relationship with the four-star prospect. Limegrover was previously at Minnesota and continued recruiting him once he moved to Happy Valley.

It’s also going to argue with the success Wisconsin has had with the linemen from the area, while he has visited Ohio State twice during his recruitment, but I don’t see the Buckeyes or Badgers as competition for the Irish.

Notre Dame has continued to put itself in position to land Carroll as Jeff Quinn picked up right where Harry Hiestand left off and made quite an impression. Carroll has visited Notre Dame twice this spring, including a stop in March with his girlfriend. Notre Dame also has the balance of academics, and football Carroll has been adamant about during his recruitment, which has allowed the Irish to be the long-time favorite to land the Minnesota native.

If the Irish can land Carroll, it would be a massive start to the 2019 offensive line class as he would join Andrew Kristofic‍ and John Olmstead‍.
