2019 Hillcrest (Ala.) punter Jay Bramblett‍ was fresh off a visit to Notre Dame over the weekend when he got some good news on Tuesday afternoon. The 6-foot-2, 175 received a scholarship offer from the Irish and made a decision shortly after the offer.

“I committed about an hour or so after I got the offer,” Bramblett told Irish Sports Daily. “It didn’t take too long.

“Everyone knows Notre Dame. I knew the opportunity in front of me, and I think it’s a place I can be successful. I’m really excited about it.”

The Tuscaloosa native couldn’t have made a better decision as his parents were thrilled when they heard the news.

“They were really excited,” stated Bramblett. “They know Notre Dame. They know the education, the school, and the football. Everything about it is good. There is a lot of stuff that will come from it and benefit me.”

Academics played a significant role in Bramblett’s decision, but the people at Notre Dame truly made it an easy choice.

“The coaches and Coach (Brian) Polian were awesome,” explained Bramblett. “I got to meet Tyler Newsome and several people. They made it feel like home. I’ve been to several colleges, but I didn’t feel like I did at Notre Dame anywhere else.

“Notre Dame was just welcoming and a place I wanted to be.”

Bramblett will now turn his attention to doing his part to grow the 2019 recruiting class.

“I know everyone on the staff at Notre Dame is going to make everyone else feel the same way they made me feel,” stated Bramblett. “I feel comfortable and excited about it.”

The Hillcrest standout is also more than ready to rock the blue and gold around Tuscaloosa with pride.

“I’m fine with it,” laughed Bramblett. “I’m a Notre Dame guy now. No doubt about it.”
