The recruiting process is just getting started for Ali Abdul-Barr‍, but it certainly has started for the 2021 Georgia wide receiver.

Abdul-Barr landed his first offer – from UMass – back in April and has also been receiving interest from some Power Five programs.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder was in South Bend for Notre Dame’s Elite Skills Camp this past Saturday.

“It was a great experience,” the Woodland High School standout said. “It’s a beautiful campus with great competition. I loved it.”

The Stockbridge, Ga., native felt he did well during the event.

“I feel like I did a great job,” he said. “I was one of the younger people there. There were some older guys and some people in my class, but I feel like I did a great job.

“I showed them that I’m a fast guy, I’m light on my feet, I’m great on route-running and that I’m able to catch.”

Abdul-Barr wasn’t told what he ran during the camp, but said his fastest time ever was a 4.51.

He didn’t have a chance to speak with the staff much after the camp, but did receive a lot of interest during the event.

“I didn’t really have that much time because I had to catch a flight as soon as it got over, but during the camp, there were a couple coaches who were going over everything step by step and teaching me everything when I was running routes and everything,” he said. “Throughout the whole camp, I learned some stuff within two hours.”

In addition to the offer from the Minutemen, Abdul-Barr has been hearing from Tennessee, Wake Forest and Kentucky. He’s also planning to camp at Florida this summer.

He plans on trying to remain in contact with the Irish.

“Of course,” he said.

“If I was able to get a scholarship from Notre Dame, they would definitely be in the top three for me.”
