CJ Holmes has found a new home to continue his education and football career.

The sophomore running back has transferred to Penn State and will walk-on to the football team according to ISD’s Christian McCollum.

Holmes was suspended indefinitely from the Notre Dame program following an arrest in December for shoplifting.

Court records indicate that Holmes was due in court on Monday (July 2) for a hearing where his charges would likely be dismissed if he paid his fees, performed 35 hours of community service and didn't commit a crime over the last five months as part of pretrial diversion.

While Holmes will walk-on at Penn State, he will still have to sit out the 2018 season due to NCAA rules. One source close to the situation said Holmes had a similar chance to return to the Irish as a walk-on, but decided on the fresh start with the Nittany Lions.

The Connecticut native carried the ball eight times for 32 yards last year for the Irish while playing in eight games.

Holmes younger sister, Alexis, runs track and Penn State.
