Before he even left South Bend during an unofficial visit this summer, Jake Rubley‍ was already thinking about his return.

“When I went there for camp, Notre Dame invited me to a game,” the 2021 Colorado quarterback recalled. “I thought, ‘Let’s going to the biggest one.’”

So, Rubley will be back in South Bend this Saturday for the Irish’s showdown with Stanford.

“This weekend is going to be the big one, so I’m excited to go out and watch,” the Highlands Ranch High School standout said.

NCAA contact rules have made it difficult for the sophomore to stay in touch with the Notre Dame staff since the summer, but he’s looking forward to reconnecting this weekend and experiencing Notre Dame again.

“I just want to see the campus, see the atmosphere of the fans and the game,” he said. “I just want to see how it would be to be there for a game.”

This will be Rubley’s first visit this fall, but he has a few more in mind.

“I’m planning to go to a South Carolina, a CU or CSU game and a Northwestern game,” he explained.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder already has offers from Colorado, Colorado State, South Carolina and, most recently, Texas Tech.

“That was huge,” he said of the Red Raiders offer. “They texted my coach said they were going to offer me. I was super pumped. It was a very, very humbling experience for me.”

He’s also receiving interest from schools like Northwestern, Washington and Air Force among others.

“Big ones are Northwestern, Washington. Air Force came up a little bit. Those are the big ones and then smaller schools like Western Michigan.”

Rubley called Notre Dame “kind of like a family school” since he had an uncle play for the Irish for a year and his father grew up an Irish fan.

“When you think of college football, you think of Notre Dame,” he said. “They’re the number one team in the country in the history and past. It’s just a great program.”

Rubley has already outlined a few factors for his ultimate decision.

“The coaching staff, seeing who likes me the most and if I have a chance to play early.”
