2020 WR Taji Johnson Ready To See What Notre Dame Is All About

Taji Johnson‍ has a lot to learn about Notre Dame, but it’s already obvious the 2020 Georgia wide receiver has a sincere interest in the Irish, which is why he’ll be in South Bend this weekend for their game against Stanford on Saturday.

“Me and my dad contacted one of the Notre Dame coaches and just decided we wanted to give it a look,” the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder explained.

The Marietta High School standout has kept an eye on the Irish of late.

“They’ve been really improved recently,” Johnson said. “I definitely want to see what South Bend has to offer.”

What does he know about Notre Dame so far?

“To be completely honest, not much,” Johnson admitted. “But the whole trip is to get to know the school and see what they have to offer.”

Speaking of offers, the Powder Springs, Ga., native has a few already.

“Right now, I have three offers from Buffalo, Syracuse and Oregon,” he said.

“It’s so early in the process, I’m so grateful they took the opportunity to take a chance on me, but at this point right now, I’m definitely focused on the season and getting ready for the first regional game.”

He’s also received interest from other programs as well.

“I’ve been in contact with some of the Florida State coaches,” he said. “I’ve been in contact with some of the Troy coaches, some Mississippi State coaches as well.

“They love my size, they love my ability to go get the ball and my ability to catch the ball, my reliability. Those are things they pick out most of the time.”

This will be Johnson’s first visit this fall. He doesn’t have any other trips planned just yet, but is looking into setting up others.

Opportunity and people will play major roles in his final decision.

“Definitely relationships with the coaches, that’s very important to me. I really want to get on the field early. I want to have a chance to play.”
