Taji Johnson‍ didn’t like his visit to Notre Dame this past weekend.

No, the 2020 wide receiver from Georgia loved it.

“I loved that they have that long-standing tradition,” the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder said. “It was great. They have like a family bond.”

The Marietta High School standout didn’t know much about Notre Dame coming into the trip, but learned plenty while in South Bend.

“We got to go on a tour of the campus,” he explained. “I loved how big it was. I loved the church, how big it was. I loved that it was a Catholic school because I was raised in my faith.

“Campus was great. It was huge. The people were so nice. I love how the people were nice. The facilities were really, really cool. I love how it all kind of comes together.”

Johnson was impressed with everything surrounding the Irish’s 38-17 victory over Stanford.

“Once we got to the stadium, it was just loud and crazy,” he recalled. “I loved the enthusiasm and excitement they had.

“I loved the way they played between running the ball, establishing the run, and definitely with the passing game.”

The Marietta native said the Irish’s offense is one he thinks he could fit with “for sure.”

“I loved the way they drove down the field,” he added. “I loved the fast-paced offense.”

He had the opportunity to speak with Irish assistants Jeff Quinn and Del Alexander.

“Coach Quinn is a very great coach,” he said. “I love his enthusiasm and the way he coaches his o-line.

“Coach Alexander is also really, really good. I love the way he expresses himself and his presence. Coach Alexander was basically telling me it’s about the dirt and the grind and the grind never stops and you have to keep fighting just like his receivers did this game.”

Johnson, who has early offers Oregon, Syracuse and Buffalo, is already looking into returning to South Bend.

“I definitely want to come back up during camp season,” he said.

He does want to hit the road and see some other schools this fall as well.

“But nothing planned yet.”
