2021 DT Griffin Liddle Enjoys First Look At Notre Dame
Griffin Liddle recently began his sophomore season at Bettendorf High School, but the Iowa defensive tackle already has scholarship offers from Nebraska, Iowa and Iowa State.
“It’s a really good experience,” the 2021 prospect said. “You can’t get a big head, you’ve got to humble yourself. It teaches you how to humble yourself at an early age, so you’re a little ahead of others, but it’s a really cool experience.”
The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder is also receiving interest from many other programs, including Notre Dame, where he visited last weekend.
“It was good,” Liddle said. “It was a fun experience.
“We got to see their workout facility, walked around the campus a little bit. It’s a really nice campus, really nice workout facility. Their new one is going to be super nice too. We got to see inside the stadium, that was really impressive. That’s a really nice stadium. The locker room is really nice.”
Liddle enjoyed the Irish’s 38-17 victory over Stanford.
“The game was awesome,” he said.
He paid attention to the players and coaches throughout.
“How the players act on the sideline, are they a family or not?” Liddle explained. “I want to see if they’re a family, if they all get together. They did. It was a really cool atmosphere. All of the coaches communicated and they were all good sports. They’re all respectful.”
He felt like Notre Dame’s defense is one he could play in.
“I’m pretty sure they play a couple different fronts and my school plays a couple different fronts too,” Liddle said. “They were really aggressive and got after the quarterback. They didn’t do too much twisting or anything. They went straight after the quarterback, I really liked that.”
After the game, Liddle got to see a bit behind the scenes.
“We got to go in the locker room and watch the players celebrate and give out the game ball and do their prayer,” he said. “It was a really cool experience.”
Liddle, who thinks coaches like his motor, had a chance to speak with defensive line coach Mike Elston and offensive line coach Jeff Quinn while in South Bend.
“They just caught up with me, asked how I’d been doing and said for me to come back,” he said.
“I’m not exactly sure when, but I’ll definitely be back.”
He’s already visited Iowa, but isn’t sure what schools he’ll visit next.
“We’re still thinking about it.”
