Kyren Williams Preparing For Early Enrollment
St. John Vianney and Kyren Williams made the trip from St. Louis to Cincinnati to take on Ohio powerhouse Elder on Friday night.
The visiting Griffins dropped the contest 48-7, but the 2019 Notre Dame running back commit made several plays, including a 62-yard scoring run and an interception.

“One thing we can take from this is to get better,” Williams said after the game. “We have a bye next week and come back for the rest of the postseason to get where we want to get.”
‘The Pit’ is known for being a tough place to play, but the four-star prospect knew Elder was going to be a significant test heading into the game.
“We played three or four teams like Elder this year, so not everyone back at home is like them,” explained Williams. “We knew coming in it was going to be tough one. We didn’t come out on top, and we have to get better.”
The 62-yard touchdown was the highlight of the night for the Griffins as Williams zig-zagged down the sideline and the flipped into the end zone.
“I saw the end zone, and I knew I had to get there,” stated Williams.
Williams also made his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball with multiple tackles and more than a few big hits.
“On defense, I have a mentality that I’m going to hit you before you hit me,” Williams stated. “I’m going to hit you first on either side of the ball.”
When it comes to the Irish, Williams has expedited his coursework to be able to graduate in December so he can get a jump start on his next chapter at Notre Dame.
“Right now, I’m finishing my online class to get enough credits to enroll early,” explained Williams. “Once I get that done by December 1st, I’ll be ready to enroll early.”
As it stands now, Notre Dame will have 10 early enrollees, and while they haven’t talked about it much, Williams and the rest of the commits are looking forward to it.
“We’re still focused on the season, so we haven’t really talked about it yet,” Williams said. “I’m sure once our seasons are over, we’ll start talking about it and seeing what’s going on.”
Notre Dame’s recruiting class is close to being wrapped up, and Williams would love to see the Irish finish strong on the defensive line.
“We’d love to get a couple more defensive linemen,” said Williams. “I’m not into the recruiting game, so I let the other guys handle it, but there’s definitely some more guys we can get.”
