Notre Dame will host one of the hottest prospects on the West Coast on Saturday as 2021 Diamond Ranch (Calif.) receiver Cristian Dixon‍ will be in South Bend this weekend for an unofficial visit.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder already holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Nevada, USC and Utah, but Notre  Dame, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Oklahoma, Oregon,  UCLA and Washington are showing interest.

Notre Dame has kept close tabs on Dixon, and it’s paid off with this weekends visit.

“My first impression of ND right away is I can tell by researching them is discipline and passion about winning and doing things the right way,” Dixon told Irish Sports Daily. “They are off to a great start, and the coaching staff has done a great job on getting them in a position to win.  I like what they are doing on offense, and that is huge for me on how they use their receivers.”

The California native mentioned the great season by the Irish, and it’s no secret the undefeated record has helped the Irish by gaining Dixon’s attention.

“Being 9-0, it has made me more interested to see what they are doing different to be undefeated,” explained Dixon. “I try to take something away from my trips that can make me better and then make my high school team better.  I can learn a lot by this trip and seeing practice Monday and try to take something from ND to improve my craft. “

Yes, Dixon will be in South Bend through Monday, so he’ll be able to get an extensive look at the program on the field and off the field over the next few days.

Dixon is also looking forward to meeting the Notre Dame coaching staff, and it starts with receivers coach Del Alexander.

“On my trip this weekend and Monday’s practice I am hoping to see a lot of competition and high energy,” Dixon stated. “Attention to detail is big for me so how the team prepares, and you can tell a lot about a team during there pre-game, so I am looking forward to seeing that.

“I have talked to people who have visited Notre Dame, and they say the football atmosphere experience is worth the trip alone.  I am also looking forward to seeing Coach Alexander style of coaching.”

Dixon has high expectations for the visit, and despite the cold weather, the four-star prospect has already felt the sincerity of the Notre Dame staff.

“What excites me about this trip is seeing a national powerhouse program in action and being part of a great tradition in college football,” Dixon explained. “The Director of Recruiting Mr. (Aaryn) Kearney has been great so far with setting everything up for me from with my high school coaches ( Coach Martinez and Coach Esquivel ).

“For me being a sophomore the feeling is that they are treating me like one of there own already, and I haven’t even met the staff in person yet.  So the warm welcome vibe already by what my high school coaches tell me gets me excited to take this trip.”

As for his season, Dixon was first-team All-Hacienda League and was a couple of votes away from winning Offensive Player of the Year.

Dixon has visited Arizona State, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Washington and is planning trips to Florida, LSU and Oklahoma this spring.
