2020 CB Briston Bennett Impressed With Notre Dame
Briston Bennett had the chance to see Notre Dame for the first time and the chance to reconnect with a college assistant for the second time during the 2020 Tennessee cornerback’s trip to South Bend last weekend.
“It went great,” the 5-foot-11, 160-pound junior said. “The atmosphere was amazing. The tradition was great. It was just a great place.
“They took us on a tour around the campus. We saw all of the buildings and the athletic facilities. We walked on the field before everybody came out on the field.”
Bennett and the other visiting recruits had the chance to eat and then watch the Players Walk into Notre Dame Stadium.
“After that, we had a speaker, one of the coaches spoke and some of the coaches came to talk to us,” he explained. “They were going to different tables.”
Irish defensive coordinator Clark Lea was assigned to the table where Bennett was seated.
“He came to tell me hello and he wanted to make sure that he got to connect with me and make sure he saw me,” said Bennett. “I’d already known him from my freshman year when he was at Wake Forest. We kind of already had a bond beforehand.”
The Battle Ground Academy standout called the Irish’s 42-13 win over Florida State “amazing.”
“It was sold out first of all,” he said. “think they said it’s been sold-out since 1973. It was just amazing.”
Bennett, who already has offers from Virginia and Memphis, isn’t exactly sure what’s next for him and Notre Dame.
“Hopefully, I get to stay in touch with them and hopefully we get to build a bond together.”
This coming weekend, Bennett will head out to Georgia Tech.
