Notre Dame Season Review | Offensive Line

January 17, 2019

The success or failure of the running game is almost placed on the shoulders of the offensive line. It’s not all on them to make things happen, but when there’s a big game game running the ball, they get credit. When a team struggles to run the ball, the O-line gets the blame.

This ignores one important element of the job they do, which is completely unfair. The job to protect the passer is just as important. An O-line can’t be great run blocking and not strong in pass protection or vice versa.
