Three Players on Defense in Need of a Big Spring

Corey Mays always comes to mind when thinking about a player who didn’t contribute during his early years at Notre Dame and then surprised everyone when he started his final season. The former highly touted recruit did well enough that he earned an NFL shot and eventually played four seasons in the league.

Mays is way more of the exception than the rule. Most players who get that deep into their career without starting never emerge as significant factors.
