2020 Eagles Landing Christian Academy (Ga.) athlete Justin Robinson‍ picked up an offer from Notre Dame at the end of January and wasted little time getting to South Bend with his family.

“It was good,” Robinson stated. “I really enjoyed it. We enjoyed everybody and all the coaches up there.”

Finding out what position Notre Dame envisioned him playing was a key part of this weekend’s visit for Robinson as Georgia is recruiting him as a receiver.

“They told me they liked me more on defense,” explained Robinson. “They asked me if that was OK and I’ll play anything for them. They said they want me at safety.”

The Georgia native was able to speak to safeties coach Terry Joseph and Robinson felt comfortable around the second-year Notre Dame assistant.

“He said he would like me at safety,” said Robinson. “He really wanted me up here.”

Robinson also was able to spend time with Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly, who had a simple message for him.

“It was good,” Robinson said of his time with Kelly. “He was telling me Notre Dame is more about the community and is family oriented. It’s not about just football.”

Academics will play a significant role in Robinson’s decision as his mother is in education. Notre Dame academic counselor Adam Sargent impressed the entire family and hit home on several areas.

“I liked him,” stated Robinson. “He gave me a lot of good information.

“I got a lot out of it. They had a 95 percent graduation rate and the highest graduation rate for African-Americans and I thought that was very interesting.”

When came to the facilities and seeing Notre Dame Stadium for the first time, it was pretty clear Robinson was impressed.

“It’s the best I’ve seen yet,” Robinson said. “I really liked it.”

Up next, Robinson will visit the defending National Champions before slowing his recruitment down.

“I’m going to Clemson in two weeks,” stated Robinson. “I think that will be the last one. I’m going to wait for the fall for official visits.

When it comes to Notre Dame getting an official, Robinson already has his mind made up.

“They will.”
