It’s never too early to get a jump on defensive line recruiting. Notre Dame made a move on Monday evening as the Irish offered 2021 Texarkana (Texas) defensive end Landon Jackson‍.

“I was pretty excited,” Jackson said of his 14th offer. “I knew it was coming sometime soon, but I was ready for it. I have always been interested in Notre Dame.”

The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder isn’t a stranger to Notre Dame as he was in South Bend last summer for a camp and it left a lasting impression on the Pleasant Grove star.

“I remember the tradition and how beautiful the school was,” recalled Jackson. “They had nice facilities.”

Jackson also remembers defensive line coach Mike Elston, who impressed him on the field but also was able to build rapport with him during the few hours he was on campus.

“I like the way he coaches and everything,” Jackson explained. “He seemed like a really good guy who I could connect with if he was my coach. I like him a lot.”

In terms of where Notre Dame stacks up, Jackson isn’t close to a decision, but he’s been to several schools over the last year.

Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona and Texas, Texas A&M have all hosted him, but Jackson admits Notre Dame gave him a unique feeling.

“It was a lot different” explained Jackson. “It was all just really different. I like how much tradition they have up there. It’s a great environment.”

As for a return, Jackson could be at Notre Dame a few times before the end of the year.

“I’ll definitely be up there again this summer,” stated Jackson. “I’m going to most likely make a game next year.”

Jackson will also be visiting a few in-state programs in the coming weeks.

“I’m going to Texas A&M on April 13th,” Jackson said. “ I’m not too sure yet, but I’ll probably end up going to Texas again soon.”
