May is off to a hot start for Notre Dame recruiting. On Monday, the Irish landed 2020 four-star defensive lineman Rylie Mills‍ and on Wednesday, 2020 Pinnacle (Ariz.) four-star offensive lineman Tosh Baker‍ gave his commitment to Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-8, 275-pounder was Notre Dame’s most coveted offensive line prospect in the class and gives the Irish a considerable momentum boost during the May evaluation period.

Baker had the rare opportunity to watch two Notre Dame practices in the last six months and it led him to feel comfortable with the program, but also offensive line coach Jeff Quinn.

“Coach Quinn’s teaching style, his coaching style,” said Baker. “I liked the energy and the enthusiasm of the practice. I really liked the guys too. It’s a great culture.”

Quinn’s coaching style is something many offensive linemen have mentioned in the past, but it really resonated with Baker.

“I got to see (Quinn) teach and see his intensity and passion going over plays and how fired up he is to play,” stated Baker.

While Quinn reeled in one of the nation’s top offensive lineman, 2020 quarterback commit Drew Pyne‍ also deserves some credit as he was able to mesh with the Arizona native during a visit in March.

“He’ll be the guy I’ll be hanging out with a lot,” said Baker. “It’s great to build a relationship with him.
“He’s a great guy. He’s humble. He’s a great athlete. Just a down-to-earth guy, which is awesome.”
Baker is the first offensive lineman to commit in 2020, but will join an impressive offensive commit list of Pyne, Kevin Bauman‍, Michael Mayer‍, and Jordan Johnson‍.
