DALLAS – After an impressive performance here at The Opening Finals on Monday night, Michael Mayer‍ delivered another one during the first session on Tuesday morning.

The Notre Dame tight end commit caught multiple touchdowns during the Jamboree portion, including one from Irish quarterback commit Drew Pyne‍.

“I’m a little sore from yesterday,” said Mayer who was easily one of the top performers during the one-on-one session Monday. “It was a good day yesterday.

“Getting to come out and finally play 7-on-7 today is exciting. I’ve got a lot of good quarterbacks throwing to me, which is exciting. I’m just excited for the day.”

Mayer said getting the chance to hook up with Pyne has been “awesome.”

“That connection is going to be going for the next three to four years and I’m excited for it,” he said.

“His spiral is tight. He can fit in tight circles. Everything about him is awesome.”

The Kentucky native isn’t shocked by the success he’s had against many of the nation’s top defenders.

“It was what I expected, just coming out and trying to be the best football player I can be and be on top here,” he said.

He hopes to continue playing well through the first round and knockout rounds.

“I just want to try to be the best I can be and try to stay number one,” Mayer said. “Like I said before, I’ve got some great quarterbacks throwing to me. I’m trying to score some touchdowns and win some ball games for our team.”
