Noble And Greenough School (Mass.) offensive lineman Drew Kendall‍ is rising name in the 2021 recruiting class and he’ll be at Notre Dame on July 26th for an unofficial visit as part of a Midwest swing.

“I’ve been talking to my high school coach and Notre Dame was one of the schools I had wanted to go out and see,” Kendall told Irish Sports Daily. “I want to get a look at the school.

“I’m excited to see the campus. I know it’s very similar to Boston College and I want to compare it to the schools I’ve seen. It’s also similar to the school I go to now, which is really big on academics and that’s huge for me.”

This spring, Kendall was able to visit a few East Coast programs and he’s looking forward to see how Notre Dame stacks up.

“I went down to Duke, Maryland North Carolina and Virginia in one trip,” said Kendall. “I’ve been to Boston College a bunch as well.”

Kendall already holds an impressive offer list as Boston College, Dartmouth, Duke, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Syracuse, Virginia and Virginia Tech have offered.

The early attention in his recruitment came as a surprise, but Kendall adjusted to it pretty quickly.

“It was a bit of a surprise at the beginning, but after the first couple came in, I started talking to coaches,” explained Kendall. “I got a little more ready for it. I didn’t expect it as a sophomore. I expected it to come later.”

When it comes to his game, Kendall prides himself on being able to move well, but this offseason has been focused on gaining weight.

“I’m a pretty athletic lineman and I move well,” stated Kendall. “I have good feet. Over the offseason, I’ve been trying to put on weight any way I can and continue to get stronger. I’m living in the weight room.

“Right now, I’m hovering around 240. Lacrosse season brought me down. I was up to 255 in the winter, but lacrosse dropped me a little bit.”

It’s becoming a common theme almost weekly that a new name emerges from the Northeast. Kendall is the latest and he’s well-aware Notre Dame is highly thought of from those in his area.

“ There have always been kids who can play,” said Kendall. “You see it now with all the kids getting big looks. It’s awesome. Jay Brunelle just committed to Notre Dame. He’s a hell of a player. He’s big and fast.

“I feel there are way more of those guys who aren’t getting noticed.”
