No. 9 Notre Dame (29-10, 25-10)  completed its regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 7-1 win over Virginia Tech to sweep the Hokies and now the Irish will turn its attention to the ACC Baseball Championship.

Truist Field in Charlotte will host the tournament, which is in a pool-play format, leading into a four-team, single-elimination bracket to determine the league champion.

Per the ACC, each team in the four pools will play one game against each of the other two opponents in its pool Tuesday through Friday (May 25-28). The four teams with the best records within their respective pools will advance to Saturday’s semifinals, with the winners playing on Sunday in the ACC Championship Game.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper lifted mass gathering limits and the ACC announced on Tuesday the 2021 Baseball Championship will operate at full capacity.

The Irish will enter the week as the top seed in the ACC and will play in Pool A. Notre Dame will be joined by No. 8 Virginia (27-22, 18-18)  and No. 12 Virginia Tech (27-23, 16-20).

Link Jarrett’s club swept both series against the programs from Virginia and is likely a more favorable draw over North Carolina.

The ACC will announce the schedule on Sunday afternoon, but games Tuesday through Friday are set for 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday's semifinals will be played at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. with Sunday's championship being played at noon.

As the top seed, Jarrett will get to decide when the Irish play, which is a huge advantage as Notre Dame continues to maneuver its starting pitchers.

“I have to choose certain things within the context of when we get to play,” Jarrett said earlier this week. “As the No. 1 seed, I get first dibs on how we want to set our games. That's very unique.

"Some of the things that come up in the ACC Tournament are very unique. The pods and then for me choosing when I want to play and when our days off will be - that's very unique. I guess the top few seeds get to choose, but as the overall No. 1 seed, I guess I get anything I want in terms of when we want to play the first two games.”
