A few notes
I believe Notre Dame's first official visit weekend was a success, as the staff stuck to its long-term plan with each prospect over the last few months and it led to great visits all around. - Coming out of the weekend, I feel very confident in saying Notre Dame leads for defensive end Abraham Sesay, defensive lineman Brayden Parks and linebacker Roman Igwebuike. Now, the question will be if any of them take official visits next weekend, as Sesay is expected at Florida State, Parks is scheduled to visit Oregon, and Tennessee is expecting to host Igwebuike. Any cancellation would be very telling. - 2027 defensive lineman Tyler Alexander was back for his second visit and I am hearing he had a great visit. Georgia entered the weekend with the lead, but I think Notre Dame gave him plenty to think about moving forward. It will be interesting to see where he fits into the board for Notre Dame and others if other interior guys make a commitment before him. If I'm Notre Dame, I take him all day, but there are only so many spots, especially when you factor in portal recruiting. - 2027 defensive back Karnell James also made his second visit to Notre Dame. The first visit really opened his eyes to Notre Dame as he saw he was a fit in South Bend. Texas was very worried in the spring about Notre Dame as they knew he was a perfect fit for Marcus Freeman's program on and off the field. The staff did all they could and more this weekend, but I do think distance matters in this one, which is why LSU may be moved ahead of Notre Dame in hopes of flipping the Texas commit. Right now, I'd say he's staying in the South, but I don't think Notre Dame is completely out of it yet. He'll be in Austin next weekend, so all three programs will know where they stand sooner than later. - Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Robert Hainsey had his wedding on campus yesterday, so recruits were rubbing shoulders with some elite names in the NFL while on campus. Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence and several others were at Notre Dame this weekend. Obviously, it's not going to impact a recruit's decision, but it was likely a cool moment for those guys to run into the NFL guys throughout the weekend. Elite 2027 DT Brayden Parks Feels "Amazing" About Notre Dame After Official
2027 Chicago defensive tackle Brayden Parks recaps this weekend's official visit to South Bend and what could be next.
Post-Official Update: Brayden Parks
I just spoke with Brayden Parks, who left South Bend feeling even better about Notre Dame than when he arrived. The 2027 Chicago defensive tackle spent much of this weekend's official evaluating the same thing he told ISD would be his primary focus entering the visit: the people inside the program."Just being with the players," Parks said. "Being with the players and recruits. Also spending some time with the coaches."One player he spent a lot of time with was fellow Chicago defensive lineman David Folorunsho, who is already committed to Notre Dame. Parks spent time around several current players, commits and fellow recruits throughout the weekend.According to Parks, the interactions only reinforced the culture Notre Dame has been selling throughout his recruitment."They're good people. Great people," Parks said. "They want the best for each other. You could tell that just by the way they interact with each other and speak to one another."Parks said Notre Dame's coaches continue to emphasize how well they believe he fits within the program both on and off the field and acknowledged that he sees that fit as well.Asked how he feels about Notre Dame following the official visit, Parks didn't hesitate."I feel great," he said. "I feel amazing about it."That said, he did confirm that he still plans to take his official visit to Oregon next weekend and does not currently have a commitment date set.The Irish clearly helped themselves this weekend and it feels like they're once again the favorites, but we may need to wait at least one more week before we find out for sure.
