It’s a good time to be a Notre Dame fan.
Not only are the Irish about to start the season as legitimate national championship contenders, but they have put together a special recruiting class. Their representation in the 2027 ISD Fab 50 shows just how special it is.
The 2027 ISD Fab 50
I have six Notre Dame commits ranked in the ISD Fab 50: David Folorunsho (5th), Abraham Sesay (20th), Albert Simien (21st), Jackson Vaughn (30th), Oluwasemilore Olubobola (32nd), and Xavier Hasan (40th). I had five in the 2026 Fab 50. Six is the most I’ve ever had in one cycle.
It’s just another indication that Notre Dame recruiting at an elite level.
- Three of the six play defensive line and everyone knows that the Irish have an exceptional defensive line class in 2027. I think it’s an exceptional cycle for defensive line talent in general.
I have 16 D-linemen in the Fab 50 and 11 of them are edge rushers.
- Texas A&M is the only program with more in the Fab 50 than Notre Dame. They have eight and there is no doubt that Mike Elko is assembling an outstanding class.
Ohio State has five. Miami has four and likely soon to be five if ATH A’mir Sears commits to them.
- It feels crazy to put together a top-50 list and have no Alabama commits included, but that finally happened. The highest ranked Alabama commit for me is RB Nigel Newkirk (55) and I’m actually much higher on him than others are.
- The biggest outlier for me is Vaughn (highest ranked by 247Sports at 113), but I’m the only one who has Oregon commit Tae Walden Jr. as a top-50 prospect.
- This is a below average year when it comes to talent at quarterback. It’s why I believe that Notre Dame commit Wonderful Monds IV will have an opportunity to leap up into the top-50 by the end of this cycle.
Other Notre Dame commits who have ranked in my top-100 who I could see make a similar jump are Aidan O'Neil, Julius Jones Jr., Brayden Parks, and James Halter.
Ace Alston and Segun Alexander would be top-150 for me and I won’t be surprised if either makes that big jump either.

Maybe people might read that as me being a “homer”, but I can promise you that Notre Dame wasn’t putting classes together like this in years past outside of the one they just signed in the last cycle. There’s been years where Notre Dame has finished with only one commit in the ISD Fab 50.
- In addition to Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas are the two other programs who stood out to me as having deep classes with prospects who I could definitely see rise up significantly by the end of the process.
Oklahoma in particular has done an outstanding job with their overall class.
