After a trip to South Bend back in June, Kaden Saunders‍ was looking forward to seeing what the place was like in the fall.

The 2022 Ohio athlete got that chance on Saturday night for Notre Dame’s 30-27 victory over USC.

“I loved the atmosphere of the stadium,” Saunders told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was probably the best I’ve been to so far.

“It was a good game.”

The Westerville South High School star acknowledged that part of him was interested to see what would have happened had the Trojans recovered an onside kick in the final minutes, but added,“ I’m glad Notre Dame won.”

The 5-foot-10, 155-pound speedster already has offers from schools like Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and Nebraska among others. He tried to picture himself suiting up for Notre Dame during the game last night.

“I imagine myself being out there at all of my visits to see how I would fit in,” he said. “Notre Dame threw the ball a lot to the slot down the field. That caught my eye.

“I liked the style of offense they run.”

Saunders didn’t spend too much time touring campus on Saturday as he did much of that on his previous visit, but he did get another look at the athletic facilities, including the now-completed indoor practice facility.

Saunders, who made the trip with his teammate, 2020 running back Michael Mansaray (right in photo), had a brief chat with Notre Dame wide receivers coach Del Alexander.

“He was just saying how I’m a young guy and he can’t really talk to me right now, but it’s good for me to come see campus now,” Saunders said of Alexander.

He has a few more trips coming up.

“I’m going to Penn State next weekend, Pittsburgh after that, Ohio State and Cincinnati,” he said.

Saunders definitely plans on staying in touch with the Irish.
