Sarell Enjoys Another Special ND Visit

Notre Dame impressed Foster Sarell enough on his first visit to South Bend that the Irish were able to secure an official visit from the elite 2017 Washington offensive lineman.

Notre Dame got its shot as Sarell took that official visit this weekend and despite losing to Stanford, another one of the Sarell’s top schools, the Irish certainly gave the 6-foot-6, 320-pounder from Graham, Wash., even more to think about.

“It went great,” Sarell’s mother, Pam, told Irish Sports Daily.

The family was extremely impressed on the first visit back in June and this one was no different.

“It was equally as great I guess,” Pam Sarell said. “They have awesome coaches at Notre Dame, their education, the whole thing. The experience there is always good. The people there are good and they make it great.”

The big difference this time was the fact that there was a game to enjoy.

“We got to see a game day and that was a really big thing for Foster,” Mrs. Sarell said. “He wanted to see the game day atmosphere and it did not disappoint. It was really cool. The fans were really cool.”

The fact that the Cardinal beat the Irish on the field won’t be much a factor in who lands Sarell though, according to his mother.

“We’re not really looking at Ws and losses,” she said. “We’re just looking at programs and what program will fit best for Foster, so wins and losses don’t affect any part of our decision. Foster looks at the depth chart and who’s being recruited and the program and all of that stuff.”

One thing that could play a crucial role however is distance from home, although Mrs. Sarell joked that the official visit travel was much easier since somebody else was driving.

“But it’s definitely a haul,” she acknowledged. “I’m not going to deny that. We’ve been very honest with the coaches about it. The distance factor is a big one.”

Still, Notre Dame has impressed Sarell enough to remain in the hunt for the elite prospect.

“We’ve got to figure things out,” Mrs. Sarell said. “His head is probably spinning. That’s the special thing.”
