Many schools haven’t quite figured out exactly where they would see 2021 Connecticut athlete Jeffrey Davis‍ playing at the college level, but after a trip to South Bend this weekend, it appears Notre Dame has.

“It appears they’re recruiting me as a receiver,” said Davis, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound junior who could also play cornerback.

The Kingswood-Oxford School standout currently has several Power Five offers from schools like Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Purdue, Boston College and Syracuse among others.

He enjoyed his trip to Notre Dame, which included a couple chats with Del Alexander.

“Everything went well,” Davis said. “It was a really good experience. I was able to have two conversations with the wide receivers coach. We just chopped it up. It was a good time.

“That was his first time seeing me in person and first time talking to me. He was just telling me how he’s going to come see me again in the next few weeks at my school…and we’re going to start building a relationship and stuff like that.”

His initial impressions of Alexander were positive.

“He’s a really down to earth guy,” said Davis. “He didn’t sugarcoat anything. He’s really personable and easy to talk to.”

Davis appreciated hearing the interest from a school like Notre Dame.

“That was really cool. Obviously, I’ve been following them for a while, to finally start talking to the coach there was good and really cool.”

He was also impressed with what he saw from the Irish offense.

“I thought it was really good,” said Davis. “Obviously they throw the ball a lot. They had a lot of success today.

“They did throw the ball a lot, so that was good to see. It’s always good to see a passing offense. They run spread, so that’s cool.”

The buildings and campus also struck Davis during the trip.

“They were really nice,” he said. “A lot of stuff there is modern, but it also has a lot of history to it.

“It’s all kept up to date and modern.”

He goes to Syracuse for a visit this coming weekend, but isn’t sure what’s next for him and the Irish.

“I just want to take it step by step to see where it goes and see how strong their interest in recruiting me is and then we’ll take it from there.”
