Notre Dame In Touch With In-State 2022 DL Caden Curry
Toward the end of last month’s Contact Period, Notre Dame defensive line coach Mike Elston dropped by Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind., to check on 2022 defensive lineman Caden Curry and other potential prospects.
“He told me to keep working and he’ll keep in touch and told me to come down for a spring practice,” said Curry, who plans to take Elston up on the invite.
“I should be able to make it. It’s not too far of a drive.”
Curry, who has early offers from Indiana, Iowa, Boston College and Cincinnati, was in South Bend this past fall for a game.
“It was good,” he said. “I got there late because I had a football practice in the morning. But the crowd seemed like they were into it and it seemed like a good atmosphere to be in.
“I’ve always watched them growing up. They’ve always been one team I always watched. It seems like a fun team to play on.”
He’d welcome the chance to learn more on a return visit.
“I’d just like to meet all of the coaches,” Curry said. “I didn’t really meet all of them when I went to the game because I got there late. Just being able to meet all of them would be good.”
He’s honored to be on the Irish’s radar so early.
“It’s pretty amazing that they’re interested in me, it feels good,” he said.
College coaches like the motor with which Curry plays.
“They like that I like to play with speed and try to play fast and explode toward the ball,” he said.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder is motivated by the early offers.
“It just makes me want to keep pushing even harder to keep trying to get better,” he said.
He also visited Indiana during the fall, but he’s own schedule made it difficult to make more trips.
“We always have football practices every Saturday morning, so it’s hard to make games too often,” he said.
He would like to hit the road soon.
“I’d like to come back to Notre Dame to see what it’s all about and schools that are around me,” said Curry.
He has identified a few factors that will be most important to his ultimate decision.
“Academics, being able to have good teammates and just have fun up there.”
