Calvin Davis knows wide receivers.

The Monarch High School offensive coordinator/co-head coach has coached and trained several top wideouts in South Florida, Calvin and Riley Ridley and Jerry Jeudy.

Davis’ newest top wideout is 2021 prospect Jaden Alexis‍ and he has the offer sheet to prove it.

Last week, the 6-foot-1, 175-pounder added Notre Dame to a list that already included schools like Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M, Duke, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Brown among many others.

“I would say his speed,” Davis’ says when asked what stands out about Alexis. “His speed is second to none. He just has a different gear, different level. I think that’s part of what makes him one of the top athletes.”

Davis also pointed to Alexis’ football IQ, hands, route-running and high ceiling.

“He’s been playing tackle football for four years, so his upside is tremendous,” the coach said. “He played flag football coming up. He played a little bit ninth and 10th grade and then spring of 10th grade, going into the 11th grade year, he put it all together.

“His upside is tremendous. Most kids have already reached their peak, he still has a ways to go.

It goes beyond the football field though.

“He’s probably the ideal student-athlete,” said Davis. “He’s the class president, has a high GPA. He also excels in football and track.”

Alexis has plenty of options and Notre Dame is one Davis believes he will look at seriously.

“Culture-wise and his skillset, I think he would be perfect for a Notre Dame. I like their system. I like their coach. I think he’d be a pretty good fit for their scheme as well as their culture. Of course they’re a high-academic school, which will play a very important role with some of the things he wants to do after football, so I think it would be a great fit.”
