Notre Dame DE NaNa Osafo-Mensah Suffers Knee Injury
ISD has learned through multiple sources that sophomore defensive end NaNa Osafo-Mensah is expected to miss an extended period of time with a meniscus injury.
One source told ISD they feared it could be a season-ending injury for the Fort Worth (Texas) native.
The 6-foot-3, 249-pounder preserved a year of eligibility last fall after early enrolling and appeared in two games. Osafo-Mensah made his college debut against New Mexico before playing in the Bowling Green game.
Osafo-Mensah wasn’t expected to be in the two-deep in 2020, but he could have seen time in sub-packages and was on the fringe of earning more of a role on the defensive line. Mike Elston has built his defensive line to have great depth, so while losing Osafo-Mensah for likely the season isn’t a great thing, the Irish have plenty of bodies and talent on the edges.
The former Nolan Catholic star was an All-American Bowl selection in 2019 and chose the Irish over Texas.
