2022 DE Nick Campbell Grabbing Offers, Attention, Including Notre Dame's

September 20, 2020

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Notre Dame sent an invitation to Nick Campbell‍ to camp up in South Bend.

Obviously, that camp never happened, but the 2022 Florida defensive end was still honored to learn he was on the Irish’s radar.

“My Papa went there, so I’ve always had a special place for Notre Dame growing up, but I liked a lot of schools,” the 6-foot-3, 245-pounder says.

“We talked a lot about it. I know it’s a Christian school and they’re always successful. It’s a great atmosphere.”

Campbell currently holds offers from schools like Auburn, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Nebraska, Pitt, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville, Kansas, Cincinnati, Central Florida and South Florida among others.

“I’m blessed,” the Lake Minneola High School standout says. “I’m just blessed. I didn’t do any of this. It’s from God.

“They like how I come off the ball aggressive. I’m fast with my hands, destructive. Last year, I was a sophomore and I was a young. They said my pass rush was better than most of the other sophomores. They said I had great hand movement, great get-off at the snap of the ball.”

Campbell, who visited Florida State for a Junior Day prior to the shutdown, would still like the opportunity to get to South Bend at some point.

“If I had a chance, yessir, I would like to visit,” he says. “I really want to see the school, the recruiting people. I just want to know that they’re for me, not against me and they actually want me up there.”

He plans to hit the road to see several places when he has the chance.

“I want to know who’s really for me and I can’t really do that from my house,” he says. “I’m planning to go visit some schools.

“I want somewhere that’s family-oriented, a school that’s for me, that wants the team to get better. I want a coach who is going to be hard on me and wants me to get better every day. I don’t want a coach who is going to be like, ‘Good job this. Good job that.’ No, I want the coach to be hard on me and make me do what I’ve got to do to get better. I just want a great coaching staff.”
